It’s the time of year when everyone is doing best of lists, and the beer world is not exempt. Now as much fun as a poll to determine what the best beers are is (and you can go and do that over here), if there is something beer nerds love it is to hate on beers they don’t like.
So…. the coldest 100 was born.

Same basic idea, pick your worst 5 beers, and unlike other polls you have a space to give an optional reason as to why you think it is the worst. The best comments will be mentioned in a special section in the results podcast.
The poll opens now and closes at the end of January, the results will be released shortly after that in February

This summer Frozen Beer Reviews will be having 3 style focused months in the video reviews wherein all the video reviews of the month in question will be of that style.
The reason for this post is that I want you to suggest specific drinks within those styles to be reviewed. If you have any suggestions* of what you want me to review (and there is no limit other than it being in the style) just post them in the comments below. The months and styles to be covered are:
December – Dry Lager: a quite common mainstream style these days, and one that is usually either ignored or reviled by the beer geeks of the world, but they are meant to be crisp, refreshing and perfect for summer.
January – Apple Cider: a style that in the past year has become increasingly popular, and one that I’ve yet to cover on here, but there is a wide range of flavour in the style to be tasted.
December – Pilsner: the classic continental European style, and another that is mostly ignored, but are also perfect for summer with their noble hops flavours and aromas.
* – Yes, you can suggest drinks just for the hilarity of getting me to drink them

- The video reviews will now be released on Mondays
- The FBR Radio podcast will be released every other Wednesday
- I now have a job selling booze at Tony’s Cellars in Callaghan Street, Ryde. I don’t work on commission or anything, so I will still endeavour to give my honest opinion on the beers, whether we sell them or not.

Update 19/9: I now have 2 to giveaway
It’s an iPhone case, with a bottle opener in the back. Cool idea, but I don’t have an iPhone 4 so I can’t use one. Find out more about it on their website. Lucky for you one has recently come into my possession* and you can get it for free**
There are two ways you can get it:
Method 1
- Follow me on Twitter, Foursquare and/or Untappd.
- Use that data to find me in person and buy me a pint of beer
- Ask for the case in exchange for the pint
Method 2
- Buy a 6-pack of beer with any online Australian beer store, and have it shipped to: PO Box 1120, Epping, NSW, 1710 (If they need an non PO Box address, email me for a real one)
- Email a copy of the receipt/invoice to me, with your name and shipping address
Note: the case will be given to the first person to meet either set of criteria, with the announcement being made here and on twitter that it has been claimed.
* Those of you who are paying attention may well know the source
** The nature of the competition means that it will cost you something, so it isn’t technically free its really more of a swap
